Bausch & Lomb Crystalens®

Bausch & Lomb Introduces the Crystalens® Aspheric Optic (AO) Lens. Crystalens AO Is the First Aberration-free Accommodating IOL. The Crystalens AO, combined with the successful Crystalens HD and the Crystalens Five-0, will further establish Crystalens as the market leader in the premium IOL market. The Crystalens AO has prolate aspheric surfaces and is designed to be free of spherical aberration. It is designed to improve retinal image quality without compromising depth of field and therefore provides greater quality of distance and intermediate vision.

Crystalens is the only FDA-approved accommodating intraocular lens. Unlike a standard cataract replacement lens, Crystalens is designed to not only eliminate a patient’s cataract but to provide a full range of vision so that the patient can see near, far and everywhere in between. Many Crystalens patients hardly, if ever, need their glasses after surgery. “The Crystalens AO provides patients an opportunity to enjoy improved post-operative vision through an increase in contrast sensitivity due to the absence of spherical and higher order aberrations. There are three million cataract surgeries every year in the U.S. A cataract is a clouding of the normal clear lens in the eye. When a cataract forms, the natural lens in the eye is replaced by an intraocular lens. The Crystalens is an intraocular lens that is designed not only to fix a patient’s cataract, but helps improve the patient’s full range of vision.

Atlanta Vision Clinic offers breakthrough cataract treatments

Count your eyes among many things in life that can seriously improve with age. It’s all thanks to a breakthrough new intraocular lens (IOL) called AcrySof® ReSTOR® that’s implanted in the eye during cataract surgery. Cataracts are a clouding of your eye’s natural lens that occurs in 50% of patients over the age of 65, and 75% of patients over age 75. Cataracts may make sharp objects appear blurry, colors look dull, and cause trouble seeing at night. The AcrySof® ReSTOR® lens replaces your eye’s natural lens.

Monofocal vs. Multifocal

The AcrySof® ReSTOR® lens is more advanced than traditional IOLs because it’s multifocal instead of monofocal.  Monofocal lenses, as the name implies, can only give you clear distance vision–glasses are still needed to see up close. The AcrySof® ReSTOR® lens, on the other hand, can give you clear vision at all distances, from near to far. This is because it corrects both cataracts and the condition known as presbyopia, which causes many people to need reading glasses as their eyes age. In fact, 4 out of 5 patients in the supporting clinical study who had the AcrySof® ReSTOR® lens in both eyes reported never having to wear glasses.

The leading choice for cataracts and astigmatism

Atlanta Vision Clinic offers another two-in-one solution. AcrySof® Toric is the first IOL that treats preexisting astigmatism at the same time it corrects cataracts, so patients don’t have to undergo two separate procedures. Patients also enjoy improved quality distance vision over traditional IOLs.

ACUVUE® OASYS™ Brand Contact Lenses with HYDRACLEAR® Plus Technology: Improved Comfort in Adverse Environments

HYDRACLEAR® Plus Technology is the reason ACUVUE® OASYS™ Brand Contact Lenses offers optimal balance of properties for comfort and performance

67% of the more than 36 million contact lens wearers in the United States experience problems with discomfort due to feelings of dryness, with about 42% of wearers reporting that they use rewetting drops at least once a day. ACUVUE® OASYS™ Brand with HYDRACLEAR® Plus Technology is a breakthrough for contact lens wearers to help with eye fatigue and dryness in a variety of challenging environments, such as long hours of computer use, frequent travel, or everyday exposure to heated or air conditioned surroundings. HYDRACLEAR® Plus Technology is a unique formulation containing a higher volume of wetting agent and is the first daily wear contact lens made from senofilcon A, a new silicone hydrogel material.

In a clinical study with more than 190 contact lens wearers, patients wearing ACUVUE® OASYS™ Brand reported consistently clear, crisp vision and noted that their eyes remained fresh and moist, even in challenging environments. Three in 4 (75%) study participants also noted that they did not need rewetting drops while wearing ACUVUE® OASYS™.

In a research study conducted by Ousler, Anderson, and Osborn, senofilcon A contact lenses and control (habitual) lenses were compared for patients' ocular comfort in response to a variety of adverse environmental conditions, including wind, low humidity, and visual tasks. Subjects reported improved comfort during exposure to these adverse conditions while wearing senofilcon A contact lenses as opposed to the habitual lenses. In addition, overall discomfort scores were better with senofilcon A lenses than wearing no lens at all.
